John Lee Benson, Jr., age 41, Beloved Son, Brother and Grandson, passed suddenly and entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2008 at his home in Stockton. John was born in Stockton November 21, 1966. John, a painter by trade, was known to be a master of many skills. He lived in Stockton most of his life and was an alumni of Lincoln High School. He most recently attended Delta College pursuing a degree in computer technology (member of the college radio station operation), while sharpening his already vast knowledge and love of plant life by taking botanical courses to further his goal of becoming a nursery owner. John believed in Green Living, was an avid gardener and passionate about plant life and nature.
He lovingly cared for his cats, fish and houseplants. John's dream was to someday become a public speaker. He was always prepared for a political discussion by being well studied, with facts in hand on most issues. His keen wit, wonderful humor, robust smile, warm deep laugh and genuine gentleness will be truly missed. John spent 11 years in Chico, CA. While there he ran an independent interior auto upholstery repair business, made many new friends and donated his time to the community serving as a Programmer/Deejay for Radio Station KZFR. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Go with God John.
He is survived by his mother, Victoria Reynolds; father and stepmother, John Sr. and Francisca Benson; 2 brothers, Donald (and Tracey) Benson, Chris (and Trish) Benson; 3 sisters, Rochelle, Fontessa and Nicole Benson; Grandparents, Donald and Beverly DeVolld; niece, Kayla Benson; nephews, Christian Benson, Jordan, Parker and Taylor Johnson; aunts, Linda Landon, Sue Lynn, Genevive Bedio and Margie Perez; uncle, Willie Benson; cousins, Todd Landon, Michelle Lombardi, Lisa Sephos, Ruben Puga, Teri Lappe, Melissa Danisi and Jenn Lynn.
